Ds 6 has a really terrible habit of licking/biting/pulling at his top lip and surrounding skin. As a result it's really red and sore and horrible looking.
We have tried caking it in vaseline, E45, and Sudocrem. Nothing works.
I was wondering if there is the equivalant of that bitter stuff for nail biters that I could use on his face.
Nothing we say so far has stopped him doing it. Our doctor has told him to stop [was there for an ear infection), friends have said to him too, and he keeps on doing it.

Go over it with Lipsalve and give him one to use, take heart in the knowledge that he will stop eventually, at least he isn't eating his jumper sleeves!!!

Eight Hour cream from Elizabeth Arden works well.

I used to sneak up and slap on loads of vaseline when they were asleep - anything you apply in the day will only give short-term benefit.

vaseline worked for us but if youve already tried it i dont know!

My son does this - it eventually looks like he's got lipstick on, then he gets really self-conscious and refuses to go out.

We tried everything to help and nothing was much good, until a friend bought a lipsalve back from America that was brilliant, really dried it up quickly and helped him to stop. I've seen it recently for sale over here in independent chemists, usually in a small pot near the till, the tube is really small and comes in loads of different flavours.

I'll try and find the name out.
