Should I take DD(age5) to dentist? Third molar cutting when no baby teeth lost?

DD complained earlier of a sore tooth. So I had a closer look when brushing her teeth tonight and she has definite emergence of a third molar on her top row. So will have 11 teeth on top and 2 on bottom.

Hasn't lost any teeth yet and when we went to the dentist about 3 months ago he said he thought it was unlikely that any would be going soon.

Given that nothing essentially wrong do I just leave it? Is this normal?

Suppose I shouldn't be surprised, given that I had multiple baby and adult teeth removed and orthodontics (and tooth growing in roof of mouth ) and now have 4 fewer molars than most people because of crowded mouth. But even so.......

My DS is the same age as your DD. When we last went to the dentist she said that his new molars had all broken through and that he'd probably get his first wobbly teeth soon as new molars and wobbly teeth usually come about the same time. Sure enough he now has one really wobbly one and one just beginning to go. Its normal I'm sure.

Thanks so much for posting! That is reassuring, not least because dd is desperate for her teeth to be wobbly.

She has this idea that the tooth fairy will come, wake her up, and take her to fairy land for the night I really don't know where she gets it from (as a very unfairy person myself).
