MMR tomorrow and DS has a cold...

DS is due for his first MMR jab tomorrow. He's had a cold for a few days, nothing major just a permanently runny nose and a bit of a cough, no fever or anything.
Is it OK for him still to have the jab? Would it make any side effects worse? DP is taking him and has been primed to ask the nurse first, but I wanted to get MN wisdom on it!

i wouldn't.

No, I was advised not to let DCs have it if they were not 100% ok. Would leave it for a bit if I were you.

crokky · 09/12/2008 16:06

No, I wouldn't have it.

My DD is also due her MMR and I'm waiting until she is clear of cold. It isn't because of any reason in particular, but it does seem that that is the one that some people have problems with so I want her to be as fit as she can be.

Don't do it. My ds had his last week (at the grand old age of 6) and had a reaction after 5 days - high temperature and feeling under the weather and missed a day's school. If that happens to a 6 year old, I'd say be very careful with a baby. The nurse will say go ahead unless a child has allergies or is feverish - they've got targets to meet.

Don't do it...

pagwatch · 09/12/2008 17:18

No. No way.
wait until he has been healthy for at least a couple of weeks - REGARDLESS of whatthe surgery say

thenewme · 09/12/2008 17:20

I wouldn't.

I cancelled DS2 preschool booster last week as he had had a cough.

CharCharGaboriaInExcelsisDeo · 09/12/2008 17:22

I wouldn't do it either.

HensMum · 09/12/2008 20:12

Righto, will cancel the appointment tomorrow. He's not 14 months yet so we've plenty of time to do it when he's fighting fit.
