DD has had a tummy bug since Tuesday. It hasn't been intense, just diarrhoea or vomiting once or twice a day. I thought this was strange as I've never seen a tummy bug like this. Has anyone else?

Yesterday I offered her just bland food like oatcakes and toast, as she was sick twice the night before. She had diarrhoea once yesterday morning then nothing. So this morning I offered her her usual breakfast which incidentally she's hardly touched, and she's had 2 bouts of diarrhoea. She doesn't look ill and is playing ok. What should I do, offer normal food or bland stuff again? This thing has me totally confused. I'd know what to do if it was an intense bug.

My DD went through this last fornight, wouldn't eat anything, although seemed fine other that the rare occasionally vomitting bout.

And she is normal a very good eater, but we couldn't even get her to touch ice-cream.

I just made sure she drant plenty and i think 10 days in she started to get her appetite back.

with a tummy bug it normal to starve them for 24hrs (as any food you give them is also "feeding" the bug iykwim).
nothing to eat or drink apart from water for 24hrs.
if she eats something, you start the 24hr countdown again.
It really does seem to work, I've tried it a few times over the years.

and not to drink a huge glass of water in one go...just small amounts at a time, but offered loads of time throughout the day.

Thank onegirloneboy. Not just DD then! She's bfing lots so luckily I'm not having to worry about fluids. She did eat some bits yesterday but doesn't seem interested now. I'll just go with the flow and see how she is then. Oh, did you use any rehydration drinks? Just wondering if I should give them in addition to breastmilk so she doesn't get dehydrated.

xposts, she's only been sipping bits of water and breastmilk since Tuesday, with little nibbles of food when I thought she was better. Because there's such big gaps I think she's better and then she's not.

the doctor prescribed me a rehydration powder to use with DS when he was about 11 months, but that was in excess of 10 dirty nappies and vomiting sessions a day! and even then he was reluctant - i of course was pulling my hair out, but i'd say you were ok for now but if it gets worse then get some prescribed.

Ok will do, thankyou She is bfing lots so I'm sure she's keeping her fluids up. I'm going stir crazy, haven't been out since Tues. Typical since I've posted, she's had diarrhoea 3 times in the past 1 1/2 hours. Hope it's not getting worse!
