The dcotor diagnosed this after he started with a few 'warts , pimples' on his nipple said to leave as it will go on it's own.
He has eczema on his torso so gave us some cream to keep it well moisturised as it ias very very dry.
However they are spreading he now has 30+ all over his torso and spreading down his arms.
What can i do or use to try and clear this ?
Thanks

Very little, I'm afraid - it's a virus that will eventually go away on its own but will take months. Was towels and sheets often - it's very contagious.

TrinityRhino · 06/12/2008 20:21

absolutely nothin I am afriad

they are a viral thing that last for 12 to 18 mnths

the body doesn't seem to notice they shouldn't be there IYKWIM and so it takes a loooon time for them to go

try to stop him picking them
keep them clean

dd2 has had them for nearly 18 months now
started on her torso
they have been infected four times in the first year and then I managed to get prescriberd some antiseptic wash cream, moisturiser type stuff
haven't been infected since

she started hers under her arm, within 3 weeks she had 40 plus in torso and legs, back

she does have one on top lip and one under chin but they are on the way out now

dinny · 06/12/2008 20:24

nothing really, except you could try manuka honey dabbed on them

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 06/12/2008 21:27

where would i get the honey ??

Some people on here recommend 8 hour cream. My ds's have both had it - it lasted for 18 months and 2 years. I put nothing on it as that's what the GP recommended.

ilovemydog · 06/12/2008 21:34

You can get Manuka honey in most supermarkets. I got it at Sainsburys. May not be with the rest of the honey - may be with the 'health food'

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 06/12/2008 21:37

DS has a bath every day could that make it worse ?
Will try to find the hone do i just put it on spots ?
What's 8 hour cream ?
If i leave it is it normal to get worse before it get's better ? It's not nice for ds to try and 'hide' when getting changed for pe and hate it when he tells me how he has only told his best friends about it

elizabeth arden 8 hour cream

Cadelaide · 06/12/2008 21:54

A friend's daughter had it really, really bad, all down her thighs. She got rid of it with silver something or other (so sorry I can't be more specific).

Seona1973 · 06/12/2008 22:46

I tried colloidal silver and zymaderm with dd, neither of which worked. Time helped as did the removal of some of the lesions on her arm and face when she went for a squint operation!! (they asked if it was ok to remove them and of course I said yes!!) DS now has it but at the moment only has 2 'bobbly bits' as we call them.

My DS has it all over his face. A friend of mine recommended going to a homeopath so we went and had a long chat with her. DS has been going to her for a few months now and 90% of it has gone.

dinny · 07/12/2008 10:41

manuka honey - from health shops

or try and contact chickenpox, that usually clears it, have heard

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 07/12/2008 19:39

He has already had chicken pox am constantly telling him not to touch them but the eczema doesn't help!

my ds1 (4) has had it for over two years on his thighs, the theory is (including from a leading infectious diseases dr.) is that you just leave it and it will eventually go. i have a friend whos dd had it and used a baby toothbrush to exfoliate the warts and they cleared up quite quickly. other advice is to pop them with tweezer....theres no way i'm taking tweezers to my child. i have been putting sudocrem on them recently which seems to be shrivelling them however i don't know if new ones are appearing and old ones going....i may have to get out a marker pen......

The thing spreads gradually from one area to another, so they might be fading from the arms , say, but spreading on to the torso.

Nothing to be done about it that isn't very unpleasant and invasive.

My DS had eczema on top of his molluscum (backs of legs), so couldn't stop scratching them, and it cleared (the eczema) after seeing a homeopath and giving up milk for a while.

katch · 07/12/2008 19:56

Btw, having a daily bath is very drying, so might be aggravating the eczema.

StickLadyLove · 07/12/2008 20:54

Hi Lily, my DD had this and - it may be a freak coincidence - I read on MN about Elizabeth Arden 8 hour Cream - and it worked. I had some already and the reasoning behind it seemed to make sense. Apparently it contains something that anti-wart preparations contain and this shrinks the molluscum lumps... I applied it morning and evening to my DD's lumps (she had about six, on her arms) and in about 10 days they were gone. Worth a try!!

sandyballs · 07/12/2008 20:58

It's strange how there seems to be a link with eczema and molluscum. My DD had this when she was about 4, (she also had eczema), it was all over her torso. Someone recommended tea tree oil and I dabbed it on neat onto each spot every night for a week and it completely disappeared.

hellywobs · 09/12/2008 17:38

We used a colloidial silver solution. You can drink it and you can use it topically. It stopped the spots spreading and then they took about 6 months to go.

grumpalina · 09/12/2008 17:50

My 8 year old had them about two years ago when he was six. They started on his right arm and then started spreading. I took him to the Dr but they just told me to let it run its course. However I did some research and found a product called Molluscum No More from the following company www.forces-of-nature.org. My son suffers from exczema but the product stated it was organic and all natural.

Within 4 weeks they had all gone and when I started the treatment it was starting to spread onto the other arm and trunk of his body. Basically after about a week it started to make the white core 'pop' out (admittedly with a bit of assistance) but as the core was coming out anyway there was little discomfort for my son.

I'm not sure if the actual spots itch but DS1 has v v v dry skin and outbreaks of eczema so he sctaches an awful lot anyway which is the worst thing as that is what causes it to spread.

Once the contagious white bit was removed I cleaned the area with a bit of antiseptic. DS1 has no scarring at all.
