How long do you let fever continue before seeing a Dr?

PFB (10mo) had to come home early from nursery yesterday due to a high temperature of 39.7C. We gave him paracetamol and ibuprofen yesterday/ last night and he's been generally well though still hot.

He's with his granny today as couldn't go to nursery but although still eating/ sleeping playing is still 'warm'.

When do people take to the Dr?
Still at the neurotic stage? Get a move on? What do you think?

I usually decide that if a temperature doesn't come down significantly with neurofen and calpol, then its time for the Dr... I also try to trust my instincts, so if you can get a smile, and they are eating something, its probably OK. But a Dr told me that they never mind seeing a child under one, so if in doubt, go...

They usually tell you to take some of their clothes off, or give them a tepid bath and as you have been doing, alternated the calpol with the nurofen. But yes, I agree with TheShipsCat, if in doubt, call the doc. No harm in that. Good luck.
