Quick MMr question, are children protected from the 13 months jab?

Or is it only full protection once they get the booster at 3 (or whenever it is!)

As far as I understand, just the one jab should give immunity, but it doesn't 'take' for a certain proportion of children (10%-ish) and so the booster is given before school starts to 'catch' those children who haven't developed antibodies. You can have a blood test to see if your child needs the booster, but you have to pay for this privately - it isn't offered on the NHS. I think they give everyone the booster as it's a cheaper way of catching the 10% than giving blood tests to find out who needs a booster. I think that's right - someone will come along and give you more info if that's not it.

Okay, thanks for that. Was just worried as have 2 DD@s who have had first jab and making sure they aren't in trouble before 2nd. I had Measles as a child and wouldnt't wish it on anyone!
