Going out with a fever

Ds's temp went to 103 last night. He seems ok now and it is testing normal (I have an oral thermometer and don't think it's very accurate as ds won't let me hold it in his mouth, so big wrestling match enses!)
Anyway, I called NHS Direct last night to ask advice about when I should get him seen (thought 103 was very high), was given lots of advise but she said it was ok to take him outside in this weather as long as he had layers on that he would anyway. Ok, good coz I do need to go out, would obviously rather not, but we've got to eat, so was wondering, can I put a hot water bottle in a cover in his push chair with him (he's 16m) or is that too much?

No I wouldn't use a hot water bottle, you might end up making him too hot.

Warm clothes, scarf, hat, gloves, blankets will be enough.

I agree with belgo, lots of thinner layers and check the back of his neck to see if he seems overly warm.

Ok, thanx.
