Scarlet fever.....

I think my DD (6yrs) has Scarlet fever. It has been going round the class at school and she has complained of a sore throat last week and today has a fine red rash all over her and some blistery looking spots on her hands.

Any other help would be great thanks!

Sounds like it.

I think you are supposed to take to the GP for antibiotics.

Definitely take her to the GP. It is very important that she has antibiotics if it is scarlet fever, as there can be very serious complications afterwards (kidney problems and rheumatic fever).
Does she have a white tongue (or has she had a white tongue which has now changed to bright red)?

i was told for proper scarlet fever diagnosis check for 'strawberry tongue' i thought ds had ulcers but tongue looked a bit 'plump' and strawberry

other doc 3 days earlier said parvo 'slapped cheek' so ds was really very ill by the time anti biotics came

Thanks everyone. Took her to doc this morning and he confirmed its scarlet fever. The rash is really nasty today and she is in alot of pain with it. Put some calomine lotion on the rash and given piriton. Thought Dd2 had it last night but doc says she has an ear infection so both are on antibiotics!
