DD has been throwing up all night and when she has a drink shew is sick but she is hungry so I have just given her a little toast.

Has anyone got any tps on what she might be able to eat or drink and not bring it up again?

We went out for dinner yesterday but I do not think that is the problem, I think she has a little bug.

DS had a sick bug around the same age, lasted a few days IIRC.

He was still BF so I gave him milk, but if they are on formula/cows' milk I believe it's best avoided as dairy can make vomiting worse.

DS seemed to be able to keep dry stuff like toast and rice cakes down OK, plus fruit puree pots (like apple).

If she is getting dehydrated then I think you can give Dioralyte.

Of course I would give water to drink, too.

thanks for the tips, dd does not drink milk so were ok there but will lay off the yougharts...

I tried to only give her half a slice of toast and she was not happy so have made her another piece. I hate it when she is this ill. She was last sick about half an hour ago that is why I am trying to feed her as little as possible.

My mum used to give us dried toast with a scrape of jam on it for a bit of sugar.

She also used to swear by grated apple that's gone brown. Something to do with enzymes in apple that's gone brown settling an upset stomach. I used to think she was mad, but my friend's grandfather was a famous paediatrician (the Moro reflex is named after him as he first identified it) and he used to recommend grated apple that's gone brown to settle an upset stomach. Don't give it until she's stopped being sick though.

I wouldn't give her anything at all to eat until she has not been sick for 6 - 8 hours. Food feeds the bugs in the stomach. A bug like this needs to be starved out of the stomach.

Sips of water only. She may be mistaking stomach ache for hunger pains.

Poor little one. But, honestly, there is no point giving her food until a very long interval with no puking has passed.

After Ds had rotavirus we were advised to give bananas, rice (I gave baby rice made up with water), stewed apple and dry white toast. All in tiny amounts though. Most important thing is to keep her fluids up - small sips of water/flat lemonade. Do keep an eye on her for signs of dehydration because they can go downhill so quickly at this age. Hope she gets well soon.

DD goes crazy whe I offer her toast as she wants something more filling to eat, she keeps crying alot as she is so hungry.

Any more ideas of what I can give her? She did not puk all day yesterday but she has got diarroha.

And now I am ill too, I was puking all day yesterday.
