mosquito bites not going away

We went to France in September, and DD (nearly 3) got bitten twice - one on the side of her cheek, once on the top of her arm. Both bites are still visible - small slightly raised red spot on her face, tiny hard bump on her arm.
Should I see doc about them, or wait a bit longer? She's very fair skinned - ginger hair.

go to the GP as they may be infected under the skin which has sealed over the top. it also depends on the type of mossie, be sure to tell the doc where in france you went

Thanks, I think that may be the case. We were in South of France, in the Var.
Feel a bit daft taking her for two tiny spots, but do you reckon it might need prescription treatment?

Go to the GP. My DS2 (9 months) had a mossie bite on his cheek for about 2 weeks, then it got a littel worse and more red, then sort of dried up like ezcema, but sore looking. DH finally pushed me to go to the doctor. He needed a small course of steroid cream to rid the infection, so PLEASE go.

Thanks, will arrange appointment for thurs when next off work. I suspect they are not going away on their own now.
Advice very much appreciated.

we were in Italy at the end of August and I got bitten to buggery on our last day out there. My bites were really itchy, and I think scratching them made them last longer, they only went away a few weeks ago. Very persitent these Medditeranean mozzies.
Saying that, if you are worried, you have a duty to get it checked out

yes either a steriod or an anti parasitical drug or both. it never hurts or is daft to go to the doc especially with kids. last week was something like awareness week and everyone was being encouraged to visit their doc as we brits apparently suffer in silence and put off going to the GP even when quite ill. its probably nothing but always safer than sorry.

They don't seem to be bothering her - no scratching going on. I touched the one on her arm tonight and I think the skin broke slightly.
Convinced enough to take her to doc, just to check it out.

good luck!!

Quick update. Doc thinks they could be mozzy bites, could be bed bugs (yuk!).
He's given me some very mild steriod cream in the hope it will help.
Thought I'd finish off the thread in case of anyone searching archives in future.
