....my nearly 9 week old is due his 1st set of jabs at 2pm today...however, he has had a bit of a cold for a while now with a cough and has a temp of 72.5 degress....still ok to have them?

The nurses at the clinic are rubbish, so no point asking them!

Help!!!!!!!

I wouldn't if it was my child.

stillstanding · 25/11/2008 11:56

I would wait until he was better

thenewme · 25/11/2008 11:57

I just tried to convert the 72.5 to get a temp Iunderstood and it came back is 22 or 162. Have you used Celcius or Farenheit?

ChasingButterflies · 25/11/2008 11:57

At the surgery where I take ds, the GP will always take a look at a baby who's a bit poorly before they give them any jabs, just in case - could you ask if a doctor will see your ds beforehand?

becaroo · 25/11/2008 11:59

I meant 37.2 degress..........god, sorry! baby brain strikes AGAIN

In that case I would be booking a GP appointment and definitely NOT having the jabs done.

becaroo · 25/11/2008 12:07

Yes I think I will take him to the GP. Thanks all x

37.2 could be pretty "normal" temp for a baby.

But if he seems unwell and has only had the cold for 48 hours or so it might be better to postpone it a week.

becaroo · 25/11/2008 12:25

That the problem...he has had it since he was 5 weeks old really..and I cnat postpone indefaintely IYSWIM? He is already 1 week "late" in having them done.

He seems quite happy and is feeding, just very mucosy (sp?) and a bit wheezy.

If the GP is happy with him, I will let him have them. If not, will have to postpone.

DOn't worry about him being late. I spaced my daughter's jabs out as every 4 weeks was too close together imo.

If I was you I would be seeing the doctor with him as he has been under the weather for 4 weeks and he is very small. And no matter what they said, I wouldn't be having him jabbed today.

Your baby, so your call.

becaroo · 25/11/2008 19:17

I took him and he had his jabs. He seemed fine and didnt have a temp so thought I should go ahead. Gave him some calpol when we got back in case he was in discomfort (although he was smiling and happy!)

Have put off his next set til middle of Jan -he will be 16 weeks by then but at least he has had the 1st ones.

Thanks again for your replies.
