Miracle cures for nappy rash needed -

DS is 11 months and a very prolific pooer. 4 - 7 dirty nappies a day is the norm. He often gets nappy rash although he is changed constantly. It doen't normally bother him but today it's been very sore. I've tried Metanium which seems to work best but doen't clear it up completely; Sudocreme which I've stopped using c'os it stings him; and bepanthen which is pretty useless. HELP

are you cleaning it with boiled water & cotton wool? leaving lots of time without nappy (hard in this weather i know!) Metainum was a miracle for me along with this routine. Also - are you sure it's not a thrush infection - are there little raised dots?

I do use cotton wool but not boiled water so I'll try that.

TBH he should have more nappy off time.

He's has thrush quite a few times and I've put him to bed with some Canesten on tonight as it looks like it's about to turn

yes and try camomille tea cooled down - that was a godsend. If you can whip the nappy off at night after the night wee that would really help. good luck x

You also need to make sure the cream is a barrier - ie the toxic poo isn't getting through the cream. I found ungentum cream with vaseline on top (to act as a barrier) to be really effective, plus lots of nappy-free time.

Camomille is fab idea - I'll keep you posted.

X posted Mum139 - can you get that from the chemist or does it have to be prescribed. I haven't tried vaseline as I use a washable nappies at home - I know these aren't the prob as he's in disps at the CMer and it's just the same. I'll have give that a try though. Thanks

Also you should try Weleda Calendula nappycream. Health food shops and Waitrose. It really works and it's natural.
