14 mth baby vomits every night, losing weight, *help*

My otherwise healthy ds started vomiting at night about 2 weeks ago. Is happy in day. Never been fat, now looking bony...Doc recommended gaviscon and said it might be reflux but that's not helping. Any ideas? Going spare with worrying...

how long is he eating before going down to sleep?
Is he vomiting all night?
It could be an intolerance to something. I would not use gaviscon. 2 weeks of vomiting and weight loss in a baby of this age should get you an immediate referral.

DD had a sicky bug and even after the 24h fever had subsided she was sick every night for about 5 days whilst fine in daytime.
GP took temp and checked her out and said the 'mild' bugs take longer to shake off than d&v ones that clear themselves out fast.

Just one vomit, then goes straight back to sleep. Friend at work said her baby did it whenever had a cold and that it could just be the mucus (nice) as he's generally snotty. So far tonight for the first time in ages he's been ok so far, fingers crossed...

Could be mucous, but could be reflux and if it is, Gaviscon might not help - it did nothing at all for my dd, who definitely had (diagnosed with 'scope) reflux, and was sorted with Ranitidine and Domperidone.

That said, she no longer has reflux most of the time but when she has a cold, as in now, she vomits easily when tired, at bedtime...usually after coughing, or crying hard. If your LO is vomiting with no coughing, I doubt its mucous alone??

I'd go back to GP if it happens again, and ask for a referral because he's losing weight. Even if its something really simple, you'll gain some peace of mind!

My Ds went through a phase like that lasted a few weeks.

Never found out the reason, he in good form would just puke.

One vomit a day would prob not cause a significant weight loss though, how long after food and drink is he doing it?
