I probably wouldn't recheck her temp if she's sleeping peacefully, only if she wakes or seems distressed. I'd probably just check that she's looking OK before you go to bed.

morningpaper · 18/11/2008 19:43

I would cool her down - a cotton sheet instead of duvet

mine would vomit cheerily during the night with a temp like that though

docket · 18/11/2008 19:43

My ds is the same today, there seems to be a lot of it about. I agree with liath and I'll be checking ds before bed. That said, when my kids are ill I seem to wake up in the middle of the night and can't get back to sleep without checking them anyway!

morningpaper · 18/11/2008 19:43

perhaps crack window open a tad for some cooler/fresh air?

Marne · 18/11/2008 19:49

Thanks, she seems ok in herself, wants to go to school tommorrow, i hope she isn't sick in the night.

I think i will go and open her window.

I would keep her off tomorrow, definitely

she needs time to recover

DVDs a go-go

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/11/2008 19:56

if she wakes then put some towels down then another sheet in a sarnie fashion. Couple of towels on floor. Don't tell her why though! Then you know you've done your best to contain anything. Make sure you sleep, much easier to cope with poorly child if you arent dead on your feet!

morningpaper · 18/11/2008 20:11

Yes I do that

shove towel under head and on floor and Sick Bowl on floor

brace yourself

Can I ask about this too? My ds who is almost 4 has a high temperature and has been tired and pale all day. He says he's cold too but the advice here is to put less on. He also went to bed about 730 fine but woke a bit ago a bit confused about the mobiles from the ceiling. I had to take them down but he said he was ok and has gone back to sleep.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/11/2008 22:24

Sounds like there is a lot of it about corrie I hope he and you have a restful night.

DD feeling better this morning and wants to go to school, she wasn't sick in the night (thank god).

Mine's better too but took him to the doctor to check who said "ooh conjunctivitis" when I walked in and I was like "didn't think that" and it was just because he was so pale with pink eyes! Anyway it's the usual viral thing, tonsilitis, glands all up.
Sat here with him watching monsters inc!

My Ds is just getting over this type of thing.

He came home from school last Wednesday, complaining of a headache and feeling achey, I just put it down to tiredness( he's in 4+). By Thursday morning he's got a high temp and flu like symptoms, and just laying on the sofa all day. There have been a few cases of chicken pox in his class so thought that maybe he was coming down with that.

Saturday morning he seemed a lot brighter and their Dad came to take DD and Ds out for lunch.

All was Ok till Sunday afternoon when his temp rocketed again and all his symptoms were back.

Took him to Docs Monday morning, and couldn't find anything wrong with him , and put it down to a virus.

He's slowly getting better, his temperatures gone and he's a lot brighter, so hopefully he'll be back at school tomorrow.

DD also ended up up being off this week as she woke up with Tonsillitus on Monday morning, but should also be able to go back tomorrow.

DaphneMoon · 19/11/2008 12:34

Definitely keep an eye on the temp. My DS when he was 3.5 got a very high temp and ended up having a fit. We ended up taking him to hospital. He has always suffered with temp problems and if he gets a cold it immediately goes up. I am very careful now, although he is 8 now and growing out of it. Young children are not able to control their body temp like we can. Stip her off if she is too hot, if she starts to shiver, it could be because her body is trying to cool her down. Often when my DS was shivering his temp could be 39 or more. You must cool them down, cool bath or cool wet towel over her, it sounds cruel but I wouldn't wish seeing your child have a fit in front of you on anyone.

corriefan · 19/11/2008 14:03

Yes DaphneMoon, I asked the doctor about him feeling hot but shivering. I'd got him in a jumper and coat and in an extra blanket yesterday because he'd asked for them. Doc said go with how they feel to you not what they say and cool them down. Be cruel to be kind.
