my 2.5yr old gets weirdly dizzy sometimes after doing something vigorous ie bouncing on little trampoline/ rocking fast on the setee.

this has happened twice in about 3 months

she has no earache/ headache and is generally healthy
should I be worried?

by weirdly dizzy I mean dizzy for too long, where she gets frightened and bursts into tears

'mummy Im spinning'

poor thing, I have no expert advice on this but better to get it checked out anyway. Could just be that her iron levels are low?

does iron or lack of it make you dizzy?

she is not eating brilliantly at the moment tbh, because we all have colds, hmmm

yes lack of iron definitely makes you dizzy. when I was pregnant (later on in the pregnancy) I always used to get dizzy spells, they checked my iron & it was low, gave me iron tables & I felt much better
of if you're saying she's not eating very much, maybe it's just lack of energy. good luck

my three year old has been suffering from dizzy spells for the past three month s- she describes it as her head is shaking. She does not visibly shake however. The doctor is not too concerned and has found nothing physically wrong. Should I have blood test s carried out - or even a scan?

It definitely worth getting dizzy children checked out. I have an inner ear problem which mean I used to get really dizzy as a child and would collapse and throw up for hours. I am still very sensitive to movement and can have periods of being really dizzy.. sitting on a swing or similar is not fun! It may well not be anything so severe though. Also if they have recently had colds or something this can affect the inner ear in a temporary way and make the internal balance system a bit "off" for a while. Good luck. If it persists and GP still unbothered might be worth asking for referral to ENT?

I just noticed this thread while looking for something else, and wanted to offer some experience.
When I was 3yo, I used to get dizzy spells from activities such as you describe, and also as a result of high temp sometimes. I saw a GP and my mum was told it was benign vertigo. She was told I would grow out of it, which I did but my balance is still not the best and I do get dizzy sometimes after bouncing/spinning (not that I do these things often Blush ) But not as badly.
I remember it vividly - it looked like the room was tilting side to side about 45 degrees each way. As Whitey mentioned, ENT referral might be an idea worth trying if it persists. I think I had it for 6-12 months (can't remember exactly). Also, when she has these episodes, hug her really tight until she feels "still" again - I remember that helping immensely, it is a very scary experience. HTH, and hope she gets past it soon Smile
