Ears - am I just being stupid?

I am really worried about DD's ears (5 1/2months) in the last couple of weeks they have started to really stick out - been doing a bit of reading and up to 6 months you can try splinting them to help, else only other option is surgery around 5 or 6 years of age - but what if they get better on their own? are they likely to? websites seem to suggest they are more likely to get worse - what would you do? Am I just being stupid - OH says she is perfect, which of course she is but just want to do the right thing for her!

My DD had ears that curled forwards as a baby and stick out quite a lot now.I have told her there is surgery available if it is a problem to her but it is not, she doesnt care. If she doesnt care then no-one else should.Imo your dd is too young, if a child is going to have surgery that is really just cosmetic it should be their choice not yours.

I would try the splint for now. I was told that our PCT didn't pin ears back on the NHS. I left DD's alone. She isn't self conscious about them. They do still stick out.

DS2's ears seemed to stick out quite hugely when he was a baby. It isn't noticable at all now. When he has a very short haircut, I am reminded that they stick out much more than his brother's, but not in any way that someone would give a second glance at.

Thank you for comments so far they are veyr helpful! - oh and don't plan on surgery at all - just if int he future they are much worse that would be the only option, whereas now can try splints!

My DS1's ears stuck out. One a lot more than the other (there wasn't the ridge of cartilage at the top of it to form the crease). It has got a lot worse as he's got older.

I waited until he was 8 and then asked him what he wanted to do. he chose to have it pinned back (they just moved the cartilage round to form the crease so now it's identical to the other one). He had this done when he was 9 (4 weeks ago), on the NHS and he even agreed to have a local anaesthetic.

He chose to have it done himself and he is very pleased he has now.
