Nappies of an 8 month old....advice needed please

My 8 month old son had a nasty cold, then a D&V bug. A week on he seems much better in himself, has managed to eat a little bit of his solid food. Everything, however, still seems to be travelling through him really quickly. He usually poo's 1-2 a day, at the moment he is doing 5-6. He is playing with his toys, and keen to crawl everywhere.

Any advice would be very appreciated....should I be worried...is this normal??

Is your son drinking plenty of fluids? if it was one of mine, i would phone a gp, for a check up, just becuase of the risk of de-hydration.

Hope he gets well soon.

My LO, 11 months is suffering the same, so interested in what responses you get.

He's had and has been treated with antibiotics ,for an ear infection. Antibiotics finished on thursday and he does seem better, but still got cough and runny nose. His poo is liquid like and you can hear it coming out at least 5-6 times aday. He now has really painful nappy rash, which makes him cry when I change his nappy. Initionally I thought the runny poo and nappy rash could be down to antibiotics, but as they have finished and it's not clearing up I worry there is another problem. Like Hoodie I want to know whether this is normal after illness?

Thanks, and sorry for hijacking your thread

My DS is nearly 11mths old and also recently finished antibiotics, he's having more frequent dirty nappies than usual and are really smelly but I wouldn't say runny.
I know my DS is teething which usually has this affect on him as well - could your DC be teething as well?

I'm trying to balance his wee tummy again by giving him probiotic yoghurts and banana everyday and keeping his diet quite bland

Thanks for your replies. It could be teething, looks like tooth 6 is on its way, although we have not had this reaction with the others. I will try banana and some probiotic yoghurt.
I'll see how we get on over the weekend, if no change back to the GP I think.

Also thanks! My LO is has also been getting teeth 5 and 6 over the last 2 weeks. Poor things, they've got everything going on. Will also try 'winterapproaching' recomendations.
