Constant sneezing on waking

DD (8) constantly sneezes when she wakes up in the morning. In fact I've even heard her do it during the night if she wakes or stirs briefly.

This morning I heard her sneeze 20+ times in the course of a couple of minutes before losing count!

Does anyone elses DC do this?

Why does it happen? Not worried, just intrigued

Dust mite allergy? It is for me anyway.

I did wonder about that BitOfFun but wouldn't it happen at other times too?

Shes fine when she goes to bed or is lying there awake, fine when she lies there reading ,fine through the night etc. Its just those first couple of minutes when she wakes.

She doesn't have any allergies that we're aware of and is not asthmatic .

don't know why, but my nose is always worse in the morning, and dreadful if I've slept at someone else's house. I must be more used to the ones in my own bed!

try changing from cows to goats/soy milk- might improve it

Same here - I suffer with a dust mite allergy and its worse in the morning. I think it has something to do with disturbing the dust that has settled during the night. I was so bad my mum used to say I was allergic to morning!!

If she is suffering you can get a nasal spray from the doc. The medical term was allergicrhinitis (SP!.

A cold flannel to hold over her nose might help or splashing her face with water.

Hope she doesn't get too upset with it.

Thanks all.

No, she doesn't get upset by it -she just finds it an inconvenience and annoying. She tends to suffer equally wherever we are (on holiday/at ILs/friends)

I find it quite handy in a way as I can hear when shes awake so she can't sneak off to the living room and watch TV for ages without me knowing
