centiles?

I have done my childrens bmi on this site

T hankfully the kids come into "healthy weight" range. One is 85th centile and the other 9th centile.

I know I sound thick here (and I probably am) but does this mean:

DD who is 85th centile that 84% of children her age are lighter than her?

so

Dd who is 9th centile that 90% are heavier than her?

Does anyone know if that is the way to look at it?

You can tell I never visited the hv much when they were little or littlier

I am a bit surprised then it said dd2 at 85th centile is of healthy weight. Wonder what centile she would have to be to be overweight or obese.

yes, you are correct

for someone on the 85th centile for weight, 15 out of a hundred girls of her height will be heavier than her

and so on
