He goes every day like clockwork, but the last few days he's screamed in agony when going and when i've looked his poo is huge (sorry if tmi). His poor bum is bleeding after
I went to boots today and spoke to the pharmacist and they couldn't give us anything because his under 6 and suggested i try fresh orange (which i am doing)

Is there anything else i can try before a trip to the doctors?

My daughter suffers regularly with constipation and I've been told there isn't a great deal you can do other than loads of fluids and fibre. We took her to the doctors when she was a baby and it was only after 2 or 3 visits that they gave us little capsules (can't remember what they were called) to insert into her bottom, and they helped everything along. But I had to make a fuss to get them not nice when you're little one is terrified of having a poo...

One thing that bungs them up and does not cause constipation rather just huge poos is fibre. Maybe make sure that he gets fibre from fruit and veg and not things like digestive biscuits!

He eats loads of fruit & veg daily but his poo is still rock hard.I just need to soften it up a bit!

Is he drinking much? Poor scrap!

The more water, the better.

Also, apples are very good for constipation.

We mixed prune juice and/or chopped prunes with yoghurt and rice pudding etc
