I went to GP when he first got it and got drops for a few days. It didn't really clear but comes and goes now ~ do I need to go back to GP? What could be causing it? It's just one eye, esp. when he cries it goes quite gunky. Not red at all. Thankyou

Sorry, and how best to clear it? Cool boiled water? On cotton wool? Would cotton wool pads be better? Or a cotton wool/pad soaked in breastmilk?

Breastmilk cleared my ds' after lots of different drops didn't.

My son had this and a cranial osteopath cleared it (he was there for something else and she asked if it ever happened she could feel the blockage while she was examining him - it wasn't weeping when I visited her)...

Best 30 quid I ever spent!!

My GP said that if the baby has no red eye and drops don't clear the stickiness, then it is likely that the tear duct hasn't formed properly yet but will do by 12 months. So my DS had a bit of a gunky eye for the first 8 months of his life, but it was never sore. I used boiled water on cotton wool to keep it clean but I never pokeed about.
