How can I keep DS2 (4) more comfortable/happy until I can take him to the Drs in the morning??

Last night (Tuesday night) he had a bit of a cough, but it had gone by the morning. When he came out of school he didn't seem quite right, complained that he had a cough and was out of breath (well we were running up the hill to collect DS1 from school as I was already late picking DS2 up.

He seemed a bit off once we got home, had a nap on the sofa and didn't eat much of his dinner. A bit of coughing and spluttering now and then but nothing to make me concerned.

Cue bedtime (8pm) - I got him into bed and he started sobbing saying he didn't want to go to bed as he was too hot. To cut a long story short he's been up and down all night eventually I took him to sleep in my bed, had calpol and neurofen. Some of the time he's ok but very pale. But then he wakes up (not that he's really sleeping) crying, too hot, too cold (often just minutes apart).

We're back downstairs now and he's watching Tiny Pop. He's very pale and not at all himself. Going to make a Drs appointment first thing, but suggestions on how to keep him more comfortable now please???

(sorry if this post makes little sense I'm half asleep)

Ahhh poor wee mite - really not much you can do

when dc's are poorly though I take them to bed with me

will do him good not to be anywhere with tv or computer tapping - he will probably sleep a bit if you (if you have dp/dh) turf your partner out of bed and climb in together

you need sleep too!

We went to bed together hours ago and it didn't work (don't have a dp/dh to turf out) at all. He seemed even more restless lying down (even snuggled up next to me).

Oh well - only another 4 1/2hrs until the Drs will be open and I can call and get him an appointment.

with a cough, they are sometimes better sitting up, so maybe just cuddle up with him on the sofa, with hot drinks. Hope he feels better soon.
