How can I help DS2

He's feeling poorly, says he wants to throw up, no vomit as of yet. Lying on his bedroom floor.

He says he's hot, he's not.

His stomach hurts.

He's complaining about noises, lying on his bedroom floor talking to me.

aw poor thing. i suppose just wait it out. er, i'm awful at things like this. maybe a nurse/doc will post?

i would mop his brow with damp cloth and give him water, then up to bed with a towel nearby for potential vomit.

if he got hot i would give him calpol. i would keep up fluids. if he was feeling worse in the evening i would review situation, perhaps ring doc.

sorry i'm not more help!

He won't go into his bed. He's lying on the floor. He was crying and shouting before, but now he's just chatting.

I don't think there's anything I can do.

Very weird bug, though, my kids normally go off their food before getting a bug, but he ate breakfast, and lunch, and then got ill right after. (Homemade food, all ok.)

Oh, apparently his heart is going up and down now.

And now he's in the bath, happy and noisy. Weird little fellow. Meanwhile I've been arranging another dad picking up DS1, and then faffing about how to get DS1 from the other dad's house.

Do you think he may just want a bit of attention?

Marne · 06/11/2008 14:36

Maybe he just had a funny 5 minutes (i get this alot), is there any chance he could have made himself dizzy by spinning? (dd does this).

Maybe he ate to much or did'nt let his lunch go down enough before playing?

NotQuiteCockney · 06/11/2008 15:10

I don't think he just wants attention - he was at school, which he loves, but chose to lie down rather than playing outside.

I don't know what's up with him. He's sitting on the sofa watching tv, which, tbh, he wouldn't normally do for any period of time, so he's deffo wrong a bit, just not as bad as when he came home. His stomach was really hurting him. He said he wanted to lie down in his bed, but then said his bed was too hot, and he wanted to lie down on the floor, and he was so unsettled and unhappy . It really wasn't like him, he's normally really cheerful.

Aww the poor love he's probably sickening for somethign which will come out properly tommorrow iyswim. I know when mine are about to get something they often have a day when they are not quite right with vague symptoms one minute then jumping around the next. Hope he feels better soon.

NotQuiteCockney · 06/11/2008 15:11

Oh well, at least he's reasonably perky and hasn't thrown up. If he feels better tomorrow, he can go in.

Possible re: lunch not going down, who knows ... dunno about spinning, I didn't get a lot of details. If it happens again, I'll be asking a lot more questions!

Well, he's been a bit weirder than that - he was really poorly, all of a sudden (well, he tells me he didn't eat much of his lunch at all), and has mostly kept getting better. Now he seems pretty much 100%, no more interest in sitting still, even. I'll play it by ear in the morning, if he's perky and fine, I'll take him in.

glad to see he's feeling better

NotQuiteCockney · 07/11/2008 08:04

Hmmm, he went to sleep half an hour early last night. He's slept in for at least an extra half hour this morning. I guess there is something up, I just don't know what. Hopefully this sleep will sort it.

And he's still asleep. Feeling a bit about my decision, at about 7:45, to try to rouse him by opening his door. (Changed my mind, closed the door, he didn't stir.)

He's still not right ... but I've found out from another local mum that her son (at a different school, hasn't seen my kids for ages) has the same bug, starting with a v sore tummy and progressing to listless and tired. Weird.

He woke us up about 5 times in the night, with demands for lights on low, lights on brighter, lights off, pillow out of his bed, etc. Gah.

But this morning, he says he is all better, and can go to school.

Oh, could he had a migraine? feeling sick without vomiting, noises might seem louder/more intense, can feel hot without a fever, and lying on the floor might keep things still for him?

Hope he is ok now.

NotQuiteCockney · 08/11/2008 08:00

Oooh, I hadn't thought of that. DH gets classic migraines (thankfully not very often).

He was only noise-sensitive at the very start, though. And not talking about having a sore head (although I know you can have migraines without this). And the other kid having the same thing makes me think it's a (very very strange) bug ... if it happens again, though, I'll think migraine.
