Hib/Men C and MMR

DR surgery just called me to book DS 12mth Hib/Men C vaccine. They are a bit late, so it will be next week, when he is 12 and a half months old.

Is it worth me asking for MMR at same time, or is that a really bad idea? Easier from convenience and would rather get them both done at same time, i.e. 1 upset, rather than 2.

But what are chances of a reaction? He was fine at his 8/12/16 weeks.

I will ask the nurse next week, but wondered if anyone had done this?

TIA

When they get the MMR they get the last pneumococcal vaccine too so you would still have to take him back for that injection anyway. I would personally do the Hib/MenC just now and then get the MMR and PCV jab when it is due.

Immunisation schedule

thanks. but he is late for his 12mth, he is practically due his mmr. so it would be 3 injections if they did all together.
i guess i thought if there was no reason why we couldn't, 1 visit may be fairer on him than 2.
thankyou for responding

likessleep, can you phone to ask them if they would? I have to say, I was the opposite, i didn't want all the injections together and had the 12 month ones, then just the pneumoccal at 13mo, then the mmr when dd was 21mo. I think yuo have to check what they (dr) would be happy with. It might be too much of an overload for a little person!

if its any consolation, my dd was ok with them at that age, cried for a minute then went to sleep. at 21 mo, she needed bribery tpo stop crying though!

The MMR is now given with PCV so he would need 4 doing if you wanted to do them together.

As a practice nurse I wouldn't have given 4 vaccines so I doubt your surgery will do this.

I recommend the Hib/Men C now, and the MMR and PCV in a month or so.

i did ask, but could only speak to the receptionist. maybe it is too much of an overload, i was thinking more at the upset of being injected and didn't appreciate it would be 4 (which is too much). i thought it was 2, so at least now i know (all of these abbreviations in the red book, it isn't clear to me which are individual/combined/multiple injections, but maybe my brain isn't in gear today).

thanks for all of your responses and info. i'll leave it for just his hib/men c next week.

i hope he'll be okay afterwards. i hate taking him for vaccines, makes me feel like the meanest mum ever, but i know he needs to have them.

The Hib/MenC is one jab, however it wouldn't normally be given together with the pcv, if little one was over 13 months then they might suggest having hib/menc and MMR together and back in one month for pcv. Not nice for you but at least it's soon forgotton about and they are protected.
