my dd (2.2) just touched a light bulb in a lamp. she has a small red patch on her thumb where she touched it. she cried for about a minute, then demanded a princess plaster. we put her hand in cold water for about 15 mins, she was totally calm and then she had her bath and went to bed.
should I do anything else? the bit that is still red is about the size of her nail, but on the pad of her thumb.
TIA

It sounds as though you did all the right things. She'll have forgotten all about it by morning, though maybe she'll remember not to touch light bulbs again!

no, you've done exactly the right thing.

thanks for your reassurances. she has had so many little accidents in the past couple of months, my mummy-guilt is prevalent!
Kerrymum, i like the sound of that cream. i will check it out as i am forever burning myself on the iron and the oven!

or get an aloe vera plant. when you burn yourself, snap off the end of a leaf and squirt the "juice" on your burn.(just don't spike yourself on the plant)

Lavendar oil is great for minor burns as well.

My dd burnt her finger a month ago - the scab is still there........

You did all the right things but be warned it will take ages to heal!

Don't put anything on it,burns are so easy to get infected. DD badly burned her hand when she was little and ended needing a graft, all they used was a melonin dressing, but the size of your dd's you won't neeed to.
Has it blistered?

It hasn't got a blister as such but the skin looks a little bit crinkly; it may not have been helped by the fact she is an avid thumb sucker and she was sucking it in bed last night. it isnt hurting her this morning, in fact, she'd forgotten about it and was just talking about the princess plaster i'd put on her other hand. she is using her hand fine.
