We went to the hospital today and it seems as if the skin tag my daughter has had on her vagina since birth may be something more serious, she's got to have an ultrasound and seen a gynae to find out more. It's possible that it may be related to asthma medicine I was advised to take while pregnant so I'm feeling really awful. Has anyone else had anything similar??

No. I haven't heard of this. What was the asthma medication you took?

suwoo · 04/11/2008 12:56

Oh gosh how awful for you. I have never heard of this personally but just wanted to acknowledge your post and wish you the best of luck with this.

My dd4 born 12 days ago has an extra bit to her vagina too, when she was born it looked like a cockle hanging out, it has gone down but we now have to wait to see if it disapears or reduces by the time she is 6 months. I just wanted to let you know you are not the only one going through this at the moment.

I haven't any experience of this but for what it's worth, do try and keep in mind that none of our children is 'perfect' - they all will have something that is unique to them, and things that will need treating, and so on - I hope that whatever your daughter is faced with, it will not cause her or you a lot of distress or upset. xxx

dd2 has a small skin tag on her anus...I've wondered if I should take her to get it checked out, but haven't yet (she's 23 mos).

She's also got webbed toes on both feet (two toes on each) and a floppy larynx - the last being the most troublesome of all, by far, though getting better now. I've wondered about meds I took whilst pg (I was on prednisolone for 3 months) but at the end of the day...we only do what we're advised to do, and there are reasons for that. If you had asthma, you needed treatment....I so hope you don't give yourself a hard time, its not your fault regardless of the medicine thing.

Wishing you and your dd well, xxx

Thank you for your lovely msgs - I'm feeling a bit better and calmer about it all.

Totally different I know but DD has broad great toes and extra fingers, the paed was worried about a genetic syndrome, so of course we were really worried, but he just didn't know and had to make the referal, the geneticist was fab and explained that NOONE has a perfect set of genes, DD is fine, had extra 'fingers' removed on Friday and plastic surgery for toes in 6 months. My point is it is probably nothing to worrry about but they have to be sure when they don't know. Regardless it isn't your fault in any way

If you'd not taken the asthma meds, your LO may not have got enough oxygen and you could be in a completely different situation .... we all have our lttle distinguishing marks and features.
Fingers crossed for you x
