2 year old just developed stammer/stutter....any advice please?

I am posting on behalf of a friend whose DS is 2.3 yrs old.

She is concerned because just since last weekend he has developed a stammer/stutter.

Any advice? comments? How common is this?
Will it go away as quickly as it's come?

It is a normal developmental stage when their brains work quicker than their mouths

Ignore it, do not finish his sentences, wait with fixed attention on him until he finishes it and respond as normal

it'll go away in a while (a few months)

My DS started this around the same age and I was concerned and posted about it! If you do a search, loads of info and reassurance messages can be found. Apparently it is very common.

It's almost as if their brains are working quicker than they are able to speak. My DS is over 3 now and doesn't stammer anymore.

My DS1 did the same at that age. He knew what he wanted to say, but couldn't get the words out as fast as he was thinking (or so it seemed). I just ignored it, and waited patiently for him to complete what he wanted to say, rather than prompt him. It went after maybe 3 months.
