Any opticians etc out there. A question about dd's partly corrected vision?

Not sure whether to post in education or health.

dd1 (5.6) is very long sighted with an astigmatism. She also has a slight squint. When she was 3 she had an operation to correct her squint, which had been severe - both eyes almost disappearing behing her nose). This initially worked well.

However, then one of her eyes started to go in again for near work and out for distance so she now wears bifocals. Her eyesight is either undercorrected or overcorrected for near work and the oppposite for distance. (I can never remember which way round)

My question is, since she probably sees everything out of focus will this make it more difficult for her to learn to read and write? Would she benefit from larger text or any other help?

The over/under correction is prob for her squint - I have prisms to correct mine, and have reading and distance glasses as I need 9' of prism for reading and 1' for distance - before I had one pair with 4' which wasn't that good for either.

The good news, is that although doing concentrated work for very long periods used to make my eyes hurt, it wasn't a particular problem for reading as such. But it is really important that she can maintain single vision all the time. Large text etc doesn't help
