Hi

The time has come for DD to have the MMR and I'm really not happy giving to her, hubby has agreed we will do the singles but on DH2000 website I noticed that the mumps is not coming in until 2009??

So if this is true, any ideas where I can get it? We live in Kent but willing to travel to London etc?

That's fine I'm in much the same position to be honest. I did read up a lot about it all a while ago (and have a MSC in public health which I no longer actively use) but haven't kept up to speed with it all as I am now in a different field and have older children. Always better to debate with the facts at one's fingertips!

For anyone considering single jabs, they must be thinking there are risks involved with MMR, therefore it is a case of weighing up which holds the greatest risk.
I've been advised that Mumps is the least serious of all 3, especially for young children and it's only boys when they hit puberty who run the risk of infertility.
I have also been told by the clinic who we went to for single jabs that this issue with the mumps vaccine is 100% political - if this is true, shame on the government. Instead of forcing more people into having MMR, they run the risk of less people having their children vaccinated at all - makes me mad. If people are prepared to pay, let them and make it easy for them to do it.
