No tummy ache.

He says he did a poo earlier.

He is 7.

Doesn't eat much in way of fruit or veg. poss not drinking enough either.

It seemed clear in colour.

Ok first things first, Yuck.

Then...maybe he has eaten something which didn't agree with him, and has a bit of an upset tummy. Or as you hinted, he could be constipated.

Doesn't sound like its anything to worry about though.

Buda · 07/10/2008 20:25

He has done it before now that I think of it. Think more fibre and liquid needed.

ew have you googled it

VickyPea · 07/10/2008 20:40

Usually mucous is related to Irritable Bowel Syndrome, don't know if you can get it that early though? Silly question but, he doesn't have cold does he? I know that happens with my ds in his nappies when he has a bad chest.

No SEA! Should I?

oh blimey, didn't mean to worry you! i just google health things

sure it's just one of those things, children's poo is weird, maybe he just got a mild bug and it's the end product

Lynette - we can talk bumsex and pirate sex and fanny farts too! But NOT salaries. Well - not salaries if they are high anyway.

it generally means the mucosa of the colon are a bit inflamed. It's worth checking at the Dr's if he is doing it regularly. It might indicate some kind of intolerance, or possibly stress related thing like IBS.

I doubt it is anything to do with anything nasty like an infection, as he'd be having other signs.

Oh and yes they can get mucous in their poo when they have a cold too.

Buda · 08/10/2008 10:26

Thanks Flight. (Hi by the way!)

He seemed to do a huge poo this morning so I think he was a bit constipated. Will keep an eye - it has happened before when constipated and I increased fluids. Sent him off to school with grapes in his lunch box.

Will take to doc if it happens a lot more.

I have ulcerative colitis and that is one of the symptoms. Almost certainly not that of course as it wouldbe v unusual in a 7 yr old but if it happens repeatedly definitely worth a chat with the doctor.
