I am totally convinced that giving my gorgeous DD the single MMR jab is the right thing to do but I'm at work and my DH is taking her in two hours and we both have had a stab of last minute nerves ans anxiety. She's also exceptionally happy today and so we feel guilty for spoiling her day. I am doing the right thing aren't I??? Just a bit of reassurance needed.

It's not a difficult subject for me.

It's normal to seek reassurance, and I was brusque because I'm tired. I'm sorry about that and it was nice of some people to say I wasn't condescending. I think I was brusque though.

If the OP is looking for "my child was fine" then that's great. But no one is going to be able to give a guarantee that there will not be an adverse event. The only absolute guarantee is that if (and I would not wish this on anyone) there is an adverse event, then the doctor she now trusts, and the health authority who is persuading her this is necessary, will fight her tooth and nail on the issue of whether the MMR caused the problem.

Pagwatch, thanks -- I believe the mothers who say this has happened to their child. I don't know anyone in real life that this has happened to.

I hope your son is OK in the grand scheme of things
