DD is walking on the inside of her feet (does that make sense?)....how worried should I be?

DD (16 months) is happily walking with single handed support which im sure is just a confidence thing as she barely holds on but is not keen on walking unaided. She can maange 5/6 steps but at the moment still chooses to cruise around the fuerntiure or crawl.

Have noticed that she tends to walk on the inner side of her feet, a lot.

Does she need some shoes which provide more ankle support, some kind of boots or do i need to do battle with the grumpy receptionist and get an app. with our GP? What can/will they do to put this right?

Tobermory, you are far more proactive then I am. I noticed this with DS' feet, thought he'd out grow it. He is 3 1/2 and next week we are going to the GP. I feel a bit of a bad mum for waiting. But then I read last week that age 3 is about the time they want to check the feet. So, I guess we are okay. He gets around fine, just walks on the inside of one foot and the other one points out.

AtheneNoctua, proactive or the curse of the PFB and overanxious/easily stressed mother?!!

RubyRioja - I think i will get her an appoinment and see what they say

Thanks both

we went to the gp when dd was almost 2, she has flat feet (obv to look at) and walked with her toes pointing inwards (unimaginatively called "intoeing" and has hypermobile joints so her ankles and knees particularly were suffering quite badly as a result of the dodgy foot-work. Got referred to physio assessment who basically agreed with everything and sent us on to the orthotics lot, who are fab. DD wears piedro boots and has corrective insoles in them- spare insoles for her wellies and slippers. After 9mo of wearing them there is a fantastic improvement
I recommend barging the receptionist if you have to and get a physio referral at some stage - we waited until dd was out of nappies as i thought that this was some of the issue and wanted her walking to be established, though this isn't necessarily the best thing to do, in some ways all the issues were there before - she looked as if she was going to walk at 9mo like her brothers but then couldn't, and only got going at around 15/16mo.
At least if you register your concerns now your dd could get monitored to see if the problem is purely developmental or is (more likely?) physical. They do see children at any age, if concerned i think you should seek advice. better than waiting for joints to be hurting.

I used to walk on the outside of my feet on the edges if that makes sense, my parents took me to the doctors etc, I was however doing it because I wanted to and not because anything was wrong

because your dd is younger than I was its worth checking though.
