I use Aquafresh 'milk teeth' on my ds, I brushed his gums with water everyday before he got tteth just to get him used to it, then used toothpaste as soon as his first tooth came through properly. The Aquafresh milk teeth is cheap and really mild too.

I do use water but realise I should be using toothpaste

She should be fairly used to it then and shouldn't protest too much hopefully! There are loads of good cheapish baby toothpastes, I'd just get a basic mild minty one, there are loads of really wierd fruity flavioured ones and colourful ones but I'd get whatever you want her to get used to or else you'll have to buy expensive wierd coloured toothoaste for many years to come!

Not that I'm aware of hugh but I'm not an expert. I asked my health visitor when ds was a teeny baby and she just said use any paste that has been designed for milk teeth and only use a pea sized amount.

As long as you don't use harsh whitening pastes loaded with too much flouride you should be fine!
