ds3 (2.8) has perfectly normal common cold in day but evil sounding dramatic croupy bark-like cough at night. whassat all aboutb then eh??

Glad to hear DS is feeling better, sorry about ds2 though, hope he has not got it....

Chuptitos, DS gets this every time he has a cold. Has done since his first cold at 9 months. When he was 2.10 he had a fibroscopy and they discovered that because of gastric reflux he had an inflamed area which swells up when he catches a cold giving croup-like symptoms at night. The doctor prescribed Gaviscon after meals and things improved. Also it is improving with age as he gets bigger his insides get bigger so more space for air to go past inflammation. We only get the breathing issues for one night rather than three and the cough lasts for a few days rather than over a week. We also have an inhaler to provide instant relief.

Might be worth getting this checked out. We had no idea DS suffered from gastric reflux. He never had never shown any other symptoms.

he had gastric reflux as a baby and you didnt know? interesting... if he gets this again soon (apparenlty he has had this before i just didnt remember it was him) i will certainly start getting other things looked into.

ds2 has been absolutely fine all day. we had a nice day actually, lunch out while ds3 napped at home with our nanny looking after him, then we went shopping and to the hairdressers, came home and cooked dinner and some cookies [Good Mother points:7]. he doesnt even have a cold... he definitely barked this morning tho, twice... so we'll see how tonight goes.
