Child broken adult front tooth

My 8 year old had an accident today and got hit in the face by a swing , the bottom part
of his adult front tooth had been broken off . We called 111 immediately and have emergency dentist tomorrow . We’ve got the chipped off tooth in milk but they said over the phone they won’t glue it back on. I’m so sad for him that he has such damage to such a visible part of his mouth at search an early age . Does anyone have any experience of this and what they might do ?

I’ve never needed this. I think it’s come off about twice and got replaced on the nhs. Last time was a bank holiday in my 20’s which was more annoying as had to spend the weekend with a broken front tooth!

I broke my front tooth at a similar age, the composite used to come off all the time! Eventually had it veneered at about 16 and it’s still going strong at 41.

From my experience, I had to go to a dental hospital for the work, the main dentist was very nice but they’re also sympathetic as it’s a second adult tooth and as it’s involving a child. They were very good at explaining what needed to be done though.

This happened to my DS, the dentist just moulded new bit of tooth back on. He managed to knock it again and got it redone, it’s been fine since and you can’t tell.

Thanks everyone , unfortunately the pulp / root is damaged so we’re looking at root canal 😩 The NHS will only do a crown so we’re going to go private for something that will look better along the lines of composite . In the mean time he has a temporary filling and is eating again now .

Oh no! Root canal. The only thing I’d say is I’ve been advised that they can need redoing in the future. The only pain about root canals is they take 2-3 hours to do, not all dentists do them and they can be £1,000 upwards. But when they’re done they’re done. It shouldn’t be painful either.

I have two chipped adult teeth following a fall as a baby. I only had two teeth and they had to be put back into the right place by a dentist and when the adult ones came through they were missing top bit of both of them.
No one notices until I physically show them.

I have a friend who has two implants for her two front top teeth. I had known her for a few years before she told me the story of how she had had an accident that knocked one tooth out and a few months after a second accident that knocked the other out. Even after knowing they weren't real teeth I couldn't have noticed the difference..

I have another friend who has a false tooth and it took me a good 6 months to confirm in my head that my eyes weren't playing tricks on me and she did have a tooth that appeared and disappeared at random

I had half my front teeth knocked out with a rounders bat aged 12. I had caps put on which have done great until now. I’m 50. One tooth started to look a bit grey lately so I had some internal whitening done and recapped, looks great now! Don’t worry x
