Can any doc / healthcare people help re Men B jab please?

Hello, would be really grateful for any advice re Men b jabs. I do not know whether my dc should get the vaccine.

my dc are aged 18 (year 13, uni this autumn) and 20 (already at uni).

they were both too old to get Men B on the NHS, however a child locally to us died of Men B and his mum raised awareness so a lot of kids in our area paid for private Men B jabs a few years back. Both my kids therefore had Men B jabs: 1st jab in 2017, 2nd jab in 2018. So they are both 8 years post the last jab they had.

I have seen some suggestion that the protection they got from those jabs might have now expired.

should I get two new Men B jabs for both kids? Or one jab?

my 18yo is eligible via the NHS drive to get new students vaccinated. I’m not sure if my 20yo is eligible but I could pay for jabs for him if they are beneficial.

my dr surgery didn’t know and didn’t get back to me so any advice would be really appreciated.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Definitely get the NHS dose for youngest. 20 year old is a trickier call, but protective antibodies from Men B do wane quicker in adults than babies.

If I had the money and could get a private jab for the oldest (if not NHS eligibile), I would.

Thanks, it’s hard as the 18yo was aged about 9 and the 20yo was aged about 11 when they got these jabs. So neither baby nor adult as they were pre puberty.
