DD2 chicken pox holiday

My DD1 had chicken pox 2.5 weeks ago. She’s now all cleared up but now my DD2 who is 7 months old has two blisters. So far she seems absolutely fine and in 12 hours, no other spots have appeared. We are due to go on holiday in 5 days and absolutely panicking what to do. If it’s super mild, she should be ok but has anyone else’s children broken out with more spots days later?

also has anyone gone through insurance before with chicken pox and been successful?

Yes, sorry, it’s very common to have just a couple of spots at first then loads in a few days. Is this a holiday abroad? Going on a plane?

Sulgari · 20/06/2026 17:32

Yes, insurance paid out, although we had to get a doctor’s certificate to prove the chickenpox

Abroad 😩 so yes on a plane. Absolutely gutted as I just feel this isn’t going to go ahead. I am EBF so I have a little hope that might be able to improve her symptoms.

You can’t fly if she has chickenpox. It’s not about how mild her symptoms are, it’s about it being highly dangerous to vulnerable people and pregnant women

You can't fly with chicken pox. See a GP and get a diagnosis and contact your insurence company

Yes it’s really bad luck but that’s what the insurance is for. I would assume you can’t go now and focus on getting a doctors appointment to get a certificate (but make sure your daughter is quarantined in the waiting room - don’t assume they’ll just do this as I had to ask explicitly)

My 7 year old started a week before. Managed to control it with aciclover (sp?!) enough to fly. Had to get a fit to fly certificate. I’m not sure whether it would be safe to give that to a 7 month old

FYI, our doctor said they don’t do certificates. We had to get an online doctor
