Endless vomitting

I am losing the will to live with DD8 vomitting. She'd never been like that and days of back to back viruses were seemingly beyond us. But alas we're on our 4th episode since Christmas. Sometimes it doesn't even feel like a sickness bug rather like her vomitting with any virus at all. Both at Christmas and now me and her have a cold but she's vomitting with it. And it's relentless, like every 40 mins for 10-12hrs. She can't keep anything down even a sip of water and I am worried about dehydration. I follow all the advice of waiting half hour after vomitting and just giving her teaspoon of liquid every 10 mins but she still brings it all back up. She's got temp but I am struggling to bring it down as she can't keep meds down. She has a history of constipation and takes meds for that she's supposed to drink a lot to keep her bowels moving. Last episode I took her to out of hours and they found nothing serious, no obstruction etc. What could be up with her?? She eats well, she is active (swimming, gymnastics, parkrun, walks from school as I dont drive, plays out), she takes vitamins, I am diligent about hand washing. She wasnt that bad as a toddler, surely her immune system should be getting stronger at that age? She will be 9 in August. I am actually scared to ring school this morning to say yet again she is sick. I will take her to GP but would welcome any suggestions if any of you experienced anything like that. She's had bloods and abdo xray done last year as a part of her constipation diagnosis and other than being full of poo nothing else was found.

My DD (now 13) had this, she had a bad episode of a stomach bug and it just seemed to trigger after that. A few things made it worse for a while (milk being one), but when I asked the Dr she said basically she just had a sensitive stomach lining for a while. It took about 8 months to stop properly. Every cough, cold, sniffle triggered it. In the end school stopped bothering with the 48 hour exclusion for her accepting she was just pukey when low level ill.
3/4 years on, her default for illness is still sickness, but it's eased up loads.

Thank you that's reassuring. I booked appointment for her I hope that's all it is. Someone I know suggested chronic appendicitis which apparently can come and go for months before it becomes obvious. I very nearly took her to a&e twice now with it but waiting times are horrific and I couldn't imagine having her on the chair in waiting room with high temp throwing up every 20 mins!

I will say, my DD threw up a handful of times each time and not every twenty mins. (And very rarely had a temp). I don't want you to not get medical advice because of my experiences. I just recall at the time it being really weird and the Dr reassuring us it would settle. (Which it did).

Don't worry I made appointment for her; thank you for taking the time to respond x

When is the appointment? My foster daughter used to throw up with colds but it was an obvious trigger of coughing too hard and she was bringing up excess mucous etc (even at the age of 8-10) it wasn't spontaneous and continuous vomiting. Some kids vomit due to the fever itself.

She's not coughing at all. It all started with temp, headache and sore throat. She is back at school today shes had a good night and eaten albeit not much. Appointment is on 19th.

When I was 19 I got a terrible bout of food poisoning (campylobacter). Was in hospital for two days and while it didn’t cause vomiting, it was terrible the other end. For up to a year after any sort of rich food, anxiety or dietary change triggered it. I did go to the GP in the end and they said basically my stomach lining had been shot to pieces and recommended a probiotic and very gentle diet for 6 months. It did right itself but wasn’t pleasant.

Thank you, probiotic is a good shout I will get some.
