My daughter rolled if the sofa I must have drifted off while doing her feed, she didn’t cry just wimpered a little bit I checked her over for bumps etc and moved all her limbs and she didn’t fuss, she has had a bottle and is snuggling into me, I feel like the worst mum in the world will she be okay ?

a lot of babies have rolled off sofas and beds ime. you checked for injuries, how old is the baby?

Fatiguedwithlife · Yesterday 06:55

Did you wake up when she fell or find her on the floor? Did she land on carpet or a hard floor?

CaffeinatedMum · Yesterday 06:59

Did you wake up when she fell, I.e did you see how she react? She sounds as if she is fine. Hard floor or carpet and height of sofa would make a difference to level of concern.

More importantly - what can you do to take sure it doesn’t happen again, have you got anyone to support so you can get some rest?

She is 2 months old she fell onto a rug but I had a packet of nappy’s right next to the sofa laying flat so I think she may have fell onto those and the rolled herself off them, I woke up to her whimpering and she was on the floor, but I pretty sure I woke instantly because I thought I heard a noise, then her whimpering and was up within seconds. I’m just over thinking everything now and feel like the worst mum in the world 😭

My daughter fell off the bed when she was a baby. I put her in the middle while I went in the shower and she decided to learn to roll! Felt dreadful but she is nearly 16 now and fine! These things happen, sending hugs x

Mine fell off the bed and it was nice and high! At night you want to be careful of being on the sofa if tired as if she rolls into the sofa and so do you then there is a suffocation risk. I wouldn't think any more about the fall unless there are any changes im behaviour.

gammytoe · Yesterday 07:19

She is more likely absolutely fine op, they say babies bounce ! I fell asleep on the sofa once while holding a 4 month old dd, I felt her roll off my lap and onto the rug. I was absolutely distraught, ran straight up to dh crying I’ve dropped her I’ve dropped her. She was fine, didn’t even wake up lol. I did learn a lesson not to get too comfortable with baby on the sofa while tired again though !

ERthree · Yesterday 07:31

I am sure she will be fine. You are doing a great job. Don;t beat yourself up about it.🌺

This happened to my DC, around 4 or 5 months. I called 111. Did baby cry? Yes ✅ is there any blood in eyes or ears? No. ✅ They still told me to go to A&E (in hindsight, I think this was for safeguarding reasons). DC was stripped down to their nappy and had vitals checked, and was checked for any marks - again, this appeared to be a safeguarding exercise. We were discharged and I had a safeguarding call from a health visitor about a week later.

On the health front, DC is currently a perfectly healthy 6th former.

mumma2849 · Yesterday 07:34

No never again will I be doing the night feeds on the sofa 😭

Notmyreality · Yesterday 07:34

I’m sure she’s fine. Happens all the time.l to everyone. Don’t worry about it.

mumma2849 · Yesterday 07:36

Is it concerning that she didn’t cry ? Is there a potential that she may and slowly rolled down my arm on top the floor or onto the nappy’s then the floor because I never heard a big thud but I did hear something !!

Cece92 · Yesterday 07:36

My DD done this too. She was around 4 months and she was sitting with me in the sofa and she used to do this rocking back and forth thing when she was excited and she done it a bit too much and of course I never had my hand out so she went flying forward and decked it to the floor. She cried and was fine but I was not fine at all! Please don’t beat yourself up. It was an accident and there will be more to come along the way. Your doing a great job xxx

Thank you all it’s really helping with the anxiety ❤️❤️ seems like it happens to us all at some point

Take her to be checked out OP, you're not sure what happened and it's always best to be safe when small babies are concerned.

MississippiCroc · Yesterday 07:49

I still remember when my eldest rolled off the bed. I still feel bad and he’s 13 now and yes he was fine.

FolioQuarto · Yesterday 08:03

Don't beat yourself up. It probably happens to most babies at some point. Both of mine had similar incidents, both are now healthy adults.

Those first months with night feeds are exhausting, take good care of yourself as well as your baby.

I think sometimes with a really bad bump if a child doesn’t cry it’s because it’s serious. But 9/10 it just wasn’t that bad, if that makes sense?

mumma2849 · Yesterday 08:28

Yeah that makes sense she has woken up since lots of smiles very alert and is having another bottle so my gut is telling me she is okay the mum guilt is eating me up tho xxx

Call the midwife at the very least, just because other people's babies were ok doesn't mean that yours shouldn't be properly examined.

ThelastRolo20 · Yesterday 08:32

It's almost a rite of passage that a baby will roll off something at some point! Trust your instinct, she's fed as normal, she's alert, she didn't vomit, no large bumps etc. probably just a bit of a shock for her! Main symptoms of anything wrong would appear within 6 hours or so but in the majority of cases they're fine (and like I say you'd notice something was off pretty quickly).

Don't beat yourself up x

All 3 of mine managed managed to roll off a bed or a sofa or both. It's easily done.
So much respect for you doing it by yourself. It's so very very hard.
Also, having worked in child services for years. The good parents are the ones who worry when they make a mistake.

incognito1991 · Yesterday 08:40

My daughter did the same, she didn’t sleep in the night she was awake every 30 minutes, my partner never helped in the night, I never slept and one night I fell asleep holding her, woke up to her on the floor crying, no sign of injury and she’s now 2 and fine

This is really poor advice. Good parents worry AND go and get their babies checked out.
