He never complains of being itchy but is always itching his ears/ tummy/ privates/ back and it drives me mad watching him. Never any rashes or dry skin.

its not a new thing either he's always like it. Suspected ASD.

Allergies?

WhisperingAngelisnotbad · 04/04/2026 02:18

Eczema?

Devilsmommy · 04/04/2026 06:03

Try giving him an antihistamine and see if it stops it. That's what I used to do when I got itchy with no visible reason. He might have high histamine levels and it's causing the itching

Does he have very dry skin or any type of allergies @2goingon3?

PermanentTemporary · 04/04/2026 08:28

I’d assume he has some kind of mild allergy. Maybe he has difficulty identifying his feelings or putting what he’s feeling verbally, due to the ASD? It took me years to consider it in my own house because there aren’t any documented allergies in my family, but I think ds as a child had a sensitivity to feathers, and I have a very mild allergy I think to brick or plaster dust, which means that during periods of building work I have itchy eyes and general itchiness in several areas. I also now have a stronger allergy to a kind of sun cream, which again took me three or four holidays where I was desperately searching for Piriton in pharmacies overseas to work out. On that basis, have a think about what could be a cause for this.

Could it be worms? I think they’re on the rounds at the moment.

Deffo not worms, no visable marks or dry skin!

I'd start by changing washing detergent to a very mild one and ditching fabric conditioner.

Antihistamine to see if it helps.

Moisture with Aveeno and use Aveeno at bathroom too.
