Afternoon!

So my poor DS (4) who cannot catch a break, just had his tonsils and adenoids out now has chicken pox, my question is he has one on his right lower eyelid, like right on the rim...dont want to over react but does he need a gp visit? Ive read can cause problems in the eye, his eye is red and blood shot.
I appriciate none of us are doctors (or perhaps some of us might be) but i tend to over react alot 😆😆 they came up yesterday so were just at the start, luckily DD had it when she was little, but was a while a go and i dont think she had them on her face.

Many thanks!

This happened to my son when he had them. It cleared up by itself and didn’t need gp. He had them everywhere! Lining of his eyes, down his throat and all on his gums

I would get this looked at. My four month old had it, and had the same as your son. The gp gave him eye drops to make sure there would be no infection if it burst, everything was fine but maybe try 111 if you’re worried over the weekend.

Go to GP or walk-in centre OP. My DS has tons of spots around his eyes and when they burst they caused a secondary eye infection. If chickenpox virus gets into the optic nerve it can cause lots of complications. My GP had to load DS up with a pretty heavy dose of antibiotics to avoid various nasties.

Chicken pox is less likely to cause eye issues than shingles, but it still can. If the eye is red and/or there is a spot on the rim, it definitely needs looking at by the eye clinic (GP can refer) or optometrist.
