General surgery ward

DD came into A&E yesterday night and has been moved to a general surgery ward. Is that likely to be a ‘this is the only ward with space’ decision or likely to indicate an intention for some sort of surgery?

Could be either. Have you not spoken to someone about what is wrong and what the plan is?

The plan is to be seen by two specialists tomorrows - or at least for someone to speak to them and come up with a plan. But we’ve not had a huge amount of information and now it’s nearly 2 and nobody has said much so just wondering if the ward is a clue.

Well it depends what they think is wrong with him and why he went to a&e.

Presumably she’s been admitted under a surgical team. They must have told you the plan. I work on a paediatric surgical ward, we take ENT, orthopaedics, Max Fax, Genral surgery, cleft surgery. Not all go to theatre but most do.

It could be that it was the only place with space. But depends on the hospitals pathways. Since you’ve not said why she’s been admitted, we can’t possibly advise you.
