Non toxic suncream

Up till now I have always used normal sun cream. I feel like this year I should switch to a ‘non toxic’/mineral one but why the F&$! are they so expensive!!! I’d be looking at £100+ for all of us, JUST for a 2 week holiday (so not including all hot days in the UK).

Are there any affordable ISH brands out there??

They’re not as effective, and not really popular in the UK because our chemical sun creams are deemed safe and are keep effective.

but; because they’re harder to get a hold of, they generally are more expensive.

This is something that floats at the back of my mind and I’ve not looked into it much further. Do you have the Yuka app? They are good for checking brands for known carcinogens etc and I’m sure I’ve seen an article by them about the best sunscreens, which I’d find a trustworthy source. May look into it now

That’s good to know! And yes I can’t find any on the high street. It’s just ridiculous, they are impossible to have for all of summer and a summer holiday. It’d cost me hundreds 😅

I do use a chemical sunscreen but use the Yuka app when buying there are a couple of ambre solaire and Nivea ones that score well but most of the high street ones score poor or bad

Altruist is good brand that isn’t crazy money- it’s worth checking out.

@Morecoffeethanks the altruist sunscreens contain octocrylene which is potentially a problem , navigating sunscreen ingredients is a nightmare
