My 6 year old son has been prescribed this and we have started the dosage really low however he seems to be struggling from potential side effects side effects.

i am just wondering if your child was on this medication how long did it take for your child to get used to this medication/how long the side effects lasted?

Many Thanks ☺️

We found it made our daughter's behaviour change. She was just really grumpy and uncooperative on it. So we had to switch to tolteridine. I don't think it's a common side effect but thought I'd mention it, just in case.

Mine had no side effects at all.

Mines been on it for a few years now. We haven't really had any side effects.

It took about three weeks for it to really kick in for my DC. I was a bit worried about potential side effects but honestly it's only been positive for us so far (she is quite grumpy and uncooperative like @Ramblingaway 's DC but I'm not sure I can blame that on the drug 😂in our case!) What side effects do you think you're seeing in your DS, OP?

That's interesting @Ramblingaway How long was your daughter on it for?

His side effects seem to be sleepiness (which is fine 🤣) but quite grumpy on it and Thursday night he was very upset and crying but he couldn't tell me why he was sad, this hasn't ever happened before so I assume it's the medication kicking in, yesterday he seemed better however

I am waiting for the doctor to call me but unsure when that will be and just a little concerned after Thursday evenings upset 😢

She was fine on the lower dose I think, but when we increased it as it wasn't helping I got suspicious after a while. It wasn't long after COVID lockdowns though, so it took me a while to suss it out, as everything was up in the air.

This is interesting- we have had a little bit more emotional volatility I'd say but I put that down to pre-puberty hormones. Most importantly it seems to have really worked for the purpose we needed it for which is great for her general sense of self-esteem... so swings and roundabouts I guess!
