Anyone else’s children had lingering cough and tiredness after a chesty virus?

Son was off school for 4 days with a nasty cough and tiredness. After a week daughter (3) started coughing, fever, nasty chesty coigh and fully blocked. She had 4-5 days of fever. Recovered from that but now so tired. Anyone elses kids have this? Is this something going around? Cough still lingers at night and she has fits - gets better slowly but still disruptive in her sleep. Thanks so much x

Half of my school at the moment, seemingly. There's constant sniffing and coughing in all classrooms. Absence has been high for weeks.

Hi @Amipeanuts yep, my DS has always been prone to chest coughs and chest infections (unofficially diagnosed with asthma when he was a year old, so before he was able to do the peak flow test). When he gets a cough, it will rumble on for weeks and make him feel tired (unsurprising as he will be coughing at night). Keep your DC hydrated, let them rest and give them good, whole food to help boost their immune system. If no improvement, you could go back to the GP to give them a check over; some kids can have a post-viral induced wheeze and an inhaler can help.
