Tummy Ache complaint 3-4 months almost 3-year old

My almost 3-year old has been complaining of tummy ache for the last 3-4 months, daily. This is combined with less than solid poos for the same amount of time but not diarrhea.

We've been to the doctor once; no worms of infection (from stool sample) and finished her probiotics treatment.

Wondering whether we should go back to the doctors or try something diet-related ourselves? We also weaned her off formula to regular cow milk at the same time.

She's a tough, determined little girl who doesn't usually ever complain about anything so this is a bit out of character. Any advice would be much appreciated!

Have you tried taking her off the cows milk again, or lacto-free milk?

Another thing it might be, which is rare but on my mind as my little girl has just been diagnosed, is Heinlich-schonlein purpura (autoimmune vasculitis). For my girl it started with tonsillitis, then tummy aches off and on for weeks, then she got a distinctive rash with purple non fading spots, those have faded now but she has joint pain and tiredness still. I'm not sure if that can be diagnosed without the rash/spots though as there aren't many specific signs.

My son had an impacted bowel - still had poo (quite loose) but not diarrhea. Dr said it was poo that made its way around the impaction, so we didnt think he was constipated as there was poo. He had to take movicol to shift the knitial blockage and then gorcabout a year or so after. Might be worth getting checked out.

My daughter did this for a few months around the same age. Sometimes she would cry and just cling to us because of it. It was fairly sporadic and despite keeping a food diary, I could not pinpoint a pattern.

It went away by itself after a few months so we put it down to growing pains.

Update: called the doctor today and she suggested laying off cows milk and replacing with mineral water/formula. Said it wasn't worth seeing us if she didn't have a temperature (she doesn't).

We will follow your tips and see if it gets better, and if not, seek alternative care.

I would be considering dietary factors including possibly cows milk / coeliac. But would advise being guided by professional with regard to eliminating as for instance with coeliac you have to be consuming gluten for testing.

Have they considered coeliac disease
