My little girl has had this bumpy rash for a few months just thought it was eczema. It started on her torso but now it is down one leg and it's really mad looking brought her to GP he suspects molluscum.contagisum said you wait it out? Any thoughts

Molludab works a treat. It’s not cheap
for a very small bottle. I had to apply it to each spot when my ds was asleep every night and it did go. The first time I stopped when they were nearly gone and then they came back which meant I had to start again. Keep going until they are all gone. They crust over and don’t look particularly nice but keep putting it on. It takes ages as there are so many and the bottle is extremely hard to get the liquid out. If it touches the skin around, it can burn a bit which is why I did it when we was asleep and he would never wake. Don’t pop them, it makes them spread. If they scratch them and they pop or bleed like in your picture, just put a plaster over them. They will go, you just have to be persistent. If you wait it out like some doctors say, she could have it for years.

Squeezing the spots works.
But it can also spread them. We had to wait it out although DS would squeeze the big spots sometimes. But it did just go eventually and one of my kids was much less affected than the other but both had it.

I have never heard of this until yesterday...thanks for all the tips have ordered molludab and will go to Holland and Barrett today to get some manual honey soap or the lemon myrtle oil. Honestly thought it was ezxcema

My dd had it when she was little, unfortunately there is absolutely nothing a GP can give you unless it becomes infected.

Helpful tips (sorry only read your posts)

  • boil wash bedding and towels
  • don't share towels or bedding as it is contagious
  • if it's itchy give her piriton to ease
  • potentially avoid things like oat baths unless you test in a small area as it massively irritated it for dd

We tried all the lotions and potions recommend and nothing but time helped unfortunately

We tried everything.

the only thing that worked was waiting it out.

DS took 4 months
DD took 18 months

My daughter had these about 5 years ago, sHe was very stressed in school at the time (bullying) I do notice some scarring still on her torso

MJagain · 28/01/2026 22:00

Mine had it for about 9 months each I think.

Taking thuja can help. As can bursting the spots and pulling out the stringy core. Then clean with tea tree oil and cover with plaster.

Sanch1 · 28/01/2026 22:21

Mine little one currently had this inflamed all in her groin and around her privates. Been to the doctors a few times. Can’t believe you are all saying it may be months/years!

Yabbadabbadooooooo · 28/01/2026 22:38

We got rid of our daughter’s in 4 weeks using something from Amazon. I think it was mainly tea tree oil and you apply it religiously twice a day, they dry up and fall off within a month. Ignore the GP.
