Feeling hopeless 😞

Hi all,
Just looking for some advice / reassurance really. My little boy is 6 and he seems to be getting tonsillitis all the time. It feels like we barely get over one bout before another one starts 😞

He’s missed quite a bit of school because of it and every time he’s poorly I just feel so guilty and helpless. Seeing him so run down and in pain honestly breaks my heart – I feel so sorry for my baby.

GP has said it’s “one of those things” and that some kids just get it more than others, but I’m starting to worry whether this is normal or if I should be pushing for ENT / tonsils out etc. Has anyone else been through this with their child? Did they grow out of it or did you end up needing further treatment?

Any experiences or advice would be really appreciated. Feeling a bit fed up and sad for him right now 💔

I'd push for a referral. It'll be a long wait anyway, so if he grows out of it then brilliant and if not you'll definitely want to be seen by the time you have an appointment.

Dd was the same, my advice find out what the local and nice guidelines are currently for ent referal. Take ds to the gp every time you suspect (it needs to be documented to get treatment). Push for the guidelines to be followed.
In the mean time is it worth adding in some vitamins? Especially if hes regularly having times when he cant eat.
Dd had her tonsils out just before her 7th birthday it was worth it (although the week after surgery didn't seem so).

My daughter was like this before she had her tonsils removed. Push for a referral. You have my sympathy it’s draining when they seem to get better for a week or 2 and then go down again.

Good luck, it’s not right that they let this go on for so long. My little girl missed so much school until they finally agreed to take them out.
