My 2 year old had an upset stomach yesterday but was ok from 5pm onwards. So we put him to bed as normal, checked on him before I went to bed and was fine. Fast forward to 5am and he woke up with diarrhoea all his nappy so obviously I changed him quickly. However he’s now got this extremely painful rash all over his genitals. I’ve been cleaning it as much as I can, including bathing him and putting sudacrem on it. Can anyone recommend what else I can do? I hate seeing him in pain.

Poor thing. Let him have some time with has nappy off to get some air to it for a while. When bathing make sure they are fully dry before applying anymore cream, I bath mine in coconut oil if you have any seems to do the trick for me just makes it less sore. I picked some up in boots.

There used to be a fab cream by Metanium that was yellow but cannot find it anywhere now!

It’s unpleasant but it wont last for to long x

If they have I’ll be overjoyed! I know they have the regular nappy cream but the one for nappy rash was really good, can’t remember the exact name but it was yellow and thick in consistency

Edit to say google says

Metanium Yellow Nappy Rash Ointment, known for its strong treatment of severe nappy rash, has unfortunately been discontinued by the manufacturer due to supply issues, leaving parents searching for alternatives, though some stock might remain. While the "Yellow One" is gone, Metanium's Everyday Barrier Ointment (the pink/white tube) is still available for daily prevention, but for treating bad rashes, parents are exploring options like zinc oxide creams or consulting pharmacists for suitable replacements.

@Barrellturn They haven’t. they’ve just repackaged the barrier cream so it now has yellow packaging instead of purple. The yellow cream is called Metanium nappy rash ointment.

Please be careful with a barrier cream, I was a wound care specialist and barrier creams waterproof the nappy and hold fluids against the skin, just a good nappy rash cream, left to the air frequently will do the trick ,poor baby and poor parents, its an awful feeling and we have all been there !
